Pretty Good Feeling If I May Say So

Saturday, June 24th, 2006

There are good days, and then there are REALLY GOOD days. Today was one of them. Actually the ‘good’ goes back as far as Monday of the past week. Every professor we’ve met in class seemed okay with regards to teaching competence. My test scores are thumbs up, Rebel Parking is doing well (there’s a new song I made, it’s called "left", check out the lyrics at our rebel parking account
), and at least four people have followed suit with regards to my head-shaving ritual. :P

What actually put the icing on my cake was the trip to Festival Mall in Alabang in the afternoon. I didn’t know there was an Autoshow goin’ on, so when I read "AutoSummit ‘06" I immediately led my blockmates (there were four who went with me after class)to the tricked-out rides. I was thrilled to see a real kick-ass Toyota AE86 Trueno Sprinter customized with all the goodies like turbo kits, converters and custom dubs. Bunta and Takumi would be proud. >=P

Lots of other cars owned by car enthusiasts and modders were also on display at the mall atrium, including old and new civics, rx-8’s, the evo-9 and a really sleek black convertible. There were others displayed in other areas of the mall but we weren’t able visit them.

Now there’s this really sweet gallery girl whose acquaintance I was fortunate enough to have - her name’s Joy and she’s from the Kid Audio booth which displays a 2000 model civic with ‘woofers not common in this part of the world. I think I’m developing a crush here (I’m sorry Kissy, but I saw her first. XP)

We had dinner at The Pizza Company, afterwards we decided to go and see Scary Movie 4. I couldn’t believe Dr. Phil would have a cameo role in the film. Scary indeed. Hehe. We went home at around 10:15pm. It was, as I said before, a really, REALLY GOOD DAY. One of those rare moments. :)

“Pars Flaccida”

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Oh boy, we’re dead serious about this. Rebel Parking seems to be comin’ alive in more ways than one, and whoa, it’s comin’ in too fast. No, there are no record deals, no promotional tours, no screaming masses. It’s just the flow of creative juices that overwhelms me. I mean, three med guys (an optional fourth, maybe) hangin’ out having jamming sessions and dishing out song after song after song like receipts off an active cash register. We even have an album cover! Hehe! (Oh, the miracles of Photoshop)

In 11 hours I’ll be taking the first Pathology quiz of the school year. I guess it won’t be so bad. I don’t have the book yet but I’m taking my chances surfin’ the net for references about cell injury, necrosis, apoptosis…blah, blah. We’ll see how it goes.

Oh, and I decided to shave my head, too. :)  I guess in order for me to re-establish my lost self-esteem I’ve got to face the music. Accept who I am, what I look like. And see beyond the surface. Recognize myself as a great guy, never mind the lack of "poster boy" appeal. I’m more than that. Face the inevitable and deal with it. So from now on I’m gonna be mr. baldie…and I’m gonna love every minute of it (days, months, years even). Bring it on, Luthor.

Baldie

"…We’re going down, down, in an earlier round

And sugar we’re going down swingin’

I’ll be your number one with a bullet

A loaded god complex, cock it and pull it…"

(yeah, it’s loaded "god" complex, not loaded "gun" complex. Don’t ask me, ask the band: fall out boy)

An Afternoon In Vilma Land…

Sunday, June 4th, 2006

Wuz supposed to drop my brother off to his dormitory (he’s an incoming freshie at DLSC-Lipa) and get back home asap…but it rained hard and my folks decided to wait it out at Robinson’s Place. I caught Join The Club as they were performing (part of their mall tour). Yeah, they rocked. Bunch o’ lunatics, for sure…but they rocked. Funny guy, the drummer (dunno his name) - he kept shouting and standing up as he played - a real pro in my book. He yells as hard as he hits the drums. Almost broke one of his sticks. Anyway mid-gig the bassist had to replace a broken string, and while he’s having his bass guitar tuned the rest of the band decided to render some of their contemporaries’ equally popular songs like Hanggang Kailan by Orange & Lemons, Ulan by Cueshe (ughh), Kung Wala Ka by Hale, and of course Narda by Kamikazee. It was a blast hearing them play those 040606_1701cover songs. Good guys, these JTC fellas.
